As part of the Beginner Active8 Syllabus, the students studied language relating community services and events. To take part in initiatives in the local community, the students organised a community bike ride, using the City Cycle Bicycle Hire services. This is public bike hire scheme which encourages people living in Brisbane to commute around the city in an environmentally friendly way. See http://www.citycycle.com.au/.

The students had to register for their account, which allowed the students to practice their English Language skills in an authentic way; and create their itinerary and discuss this with the class. Student then all cycled together across various points of interest within the Brisbane area.

This was a hugely enjoyable, authentic and hands on lesson. Thanks go to the A1 Active8 Teacher Jacquie Fleming for helping with the organisation of the class.
