Dreamworld Gold Coast

Our Junior Program Experiences the Thrills of Dreamworld Gold Coast

Welcome back to our Junior Holiday Program. We’re excited to share the highlights of another fun-filled and educational week. Here’s a recap of the second week on the Gold Coast:

Monday was dedicated to Music. Students had the opportunity to learn about and listen to various genres, famous musicians, and discussed how music influences culture.

In the afternoon, the students enjoyed a fun session of games inside the school, playing different board games and video games. This was a great opportunity for them to bond and use English in a relaxed and playful setting.

On Tuesday, the focus was on Technology. The students explored the impact of technology on our daily lives, discussed innovations, and learned about safe internet practices. Engaging activities included designing apps and imagining future technological advancements as well as watching videos about different technologies around the world for different purposes.

During the afternoon activity, students visited the Q1 Skypoint in Surfers Paradise, enjoying breathtaking views of the city and the beach. The students also spent some time relaxing at the beach, a perfect end to a tech-focused day.

Wednesday was all about Films. The students discussed different film genres, famous directors, and the process of making a film. This activity not only boosted their English skills but also their confidence and creativity. They had the opportunity to create and design their own movie poster and share some creative ideas with their classmates.

In the afternoon, they had some popcorn and watched a film together, discussing its themes, characters, and storyline, which further enhanced their comprehension and conversational skills.

On Thursday, the topic was Shopping; so, students learned useful vocabulary for shopping, discussed different shopping habits around the world, and practised dialogues for various shopping scenarios. They participated in role-playing activities, simulating real-life shopping experiences, which was both fun and practical. Later in the day, the students visited Australia Fair shopping centre, where they could put their newly learned vocabulary into practice, enjoying a real-world shopping experience.

Friday focused on “My Town”. Students talked about their hometowns, sharing unique features and traditions. They also worked on creating detailed maps and brochures to showcase what makes their towns special. This activity allowed them to practice descriptive language and storytelling, enhancing their English proficiency. We watched videos about different cultural aspects of each student’s nationality and had an excellent experience together.

In the afternoon, the students headed to a local park called Broadwater Parklands, not far from the school, for a Sports Day. They played various sports and games, fostering teamwork and communication, all while enjoying the outdoors.

The week ended with a fantastic trip to Dreamworld theme park on Saturday. The students had an amazing time enjoying the rides and attractions, all while speaking English with their peers. It was a perfect way to finish this engaging and educational week, filled with laughter, excitement, and new friendships.

Overall, the second week of our Junior Holiday Program on the Gold Coast was a success, filled with learning, fun, and new experiences. We look forward to continuing this journey with our students in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more adventures next week.
