Study Abroad in Australia with BROWNS’ Junior Holiday Program in Melbourne
As the week kicked off at BROWNS, our Junior Holiday Program was filled with excitement. From lively discussions to creative storytelling, each day brought unique experiences that immersed our students in the vibrant culture and language of Australia. With themes ranging from movies to technology, and activities like arcade games and interactive museum visits, it was a week packed with learning, laughter, and memorable moments. Let’s take a look back at the highlights of our action-packed week!
Monday, 29th July 2024
We started the week by welcoming new faces, spending the first hour getting to know each other, chatting, and sharing smiles.
The topic for the day was “movies,” so we began with a class discussion about our favourite films and learning new vocabulary related to the topic. One of the activities proposed by the teacher was a storytelling exercise where we collaborated by swapping papers every 4 minutes, adding creative twists to each story. It was an engaging and cinematic start to our holiday program.

On Tuesday, the topic was “Money,” so we started the class by exploring currencies from around the world and comparing the cost of a bottle of water in different countries. We learned about the Australian dollar, the figures on its banknotes, and even created our own banknotes featuring cute and funny characters! We also interviewed our new friends about their savings and spending habits.
In the afternoon, we caught the tram and headed to the arcade games in Docklands, where we had a fantastic time playing games!

“Games” was the topic for today, so we warmed up by sharing our favourite games and explaining why we love them. We learned new vocabulary related to games and participated in various fun activities. After the break, we designed our own games with unique rules and then had the chance to play them with our classmates.
It was a day full of creativity and fun, playing new games together!
Thursday, 1st August 2024
On Thursday, we started the class with a discussion on our new topic, “technology.” We talked about what technology is, the devices we know, and considered the positive and negative effects of technology. We also presented our dream technology devices, letting our imaginations run wild with futuristic concepts and gadgets.
In the afternoon, we had a fantastic time at ArtVo, taking fun and creative pictures in an interactive art gallery!
Friday, 2nd August 2024
Friday’s topic was “Shopping,” so we began the class discussing various shops we know and played a Kahoot quiz to learn new vocabulary related to different types of stores and their offerings.
In the afternoon, we put our new knowledge to the test with a visit to Melbourne Central, where we enjoyed shopping and exploring a variety of stores. Shopping with friends was so much fun!

To end the week, we spent the day at Scienceworks, an interactive science museum. The group explored exhibits and engaging science displays, diving into various scientific concepts and hands-on activities. It was a thrilling day of discovery and excitement, allowing everyone to experience the wonders of science in a fun and educational environment!
