Unforgettable Experiences on the Gold Coast with BROWNS’ Junior Holiday Program

The third week of the Junior Holiday Program at BROWNS English Language School (BROWNS) continued to offer a variety of activities, each day featuring a unique theme designed to help students explore different aspects of life and culture while enhancing their English skills.

Monday, 29th July 2024
Monday was centered around Free Time. Students discussed how they like to spend their leisure time, shared their hobbies, and learned new vocabulary related to various free-time activities. They engaged in discussions and activities that helped them articulate their interests and preferences in English. In the afternoon, students participated in indoor games at the school, including a variety of board games and video games. This provided a relaxed and enjoyable environment for them to practice English while having fun.

Tuesday, 30th July 2024
On Tuesday, the theme was Sports. The students learned about different sports, famous athletes, and the role of sports in different cultures. They practised sports-related vocabulary and engaged in conversations about their favorite sports and sports experiences. The afternoon brought an exciting visit from a reptile expert, where students had the opportunity to learn about and interact with various reptiles. They were able to take pictures with the animals and enjoy this unique experience, which combined education with entertainment, keeping the students engaged and curious.

Wednesday, 31st July 2024
Wednesday focused on Cities and Communities. Students explored the characteristics of different cities and communities around the world, discussing aspects like architecture, culture, and daily life. They worked on projects where they created profiles of their favourite cities, which helped improve their descriptive language skills. In the afternoon, the students enjoyed a lively dance session. They learned new dance moves and expressed themselves through music and movement, which also helped them practice English in a fun and active way.

Thursday, 1st August 2024
On Thursday, the theme was Giving Directions. Students learned how to ask for and give directions, using maps and practising dialogues. They engaged in activities that required them to navigate imaginary and real spaces, enhancing their practical language skills. In the afternoon, they visited a challenge room, where they worked together to solve puzzles and complete tasks. This activity fostered teamwork, problem-solving skills, and communication, all while providing an exciting and engaging experience.

Friday, 2nd August 2024
Friday was dedicated to creating a Holiday Postcard. Students learned how to describe their holiday experiences and write postcards. They discussed different holiday destinations and what makes each place special. They then created their own holiday postcards, practising their writing and artistic skills. In the afternoon, the students participated in a scavenger hunt in the park. This activity required them to use their observation and problem-solving skills, as well as their ability to follow and give directions, all while enjoying the outdoors.

Saturday, 3rd August 2024
The week ended with a thrilling trip to Movie World theme park on Saturday, where the students had an incredible time exploring the park, enjoying the rides and attractions, and interacting with each other in English. It was a perfect end to an engaging and educational week.
