Tuesday’s focus was on the beach and marine life. Students expanded their vocabulary related to seaside activities and discussed beach culture in Australia and their home countries. The highlight of the day was a ferry ride along the Brisbane River, with a stop at New Farm Park. There, students played ball games, took photos, and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings—combining learning with outdoor enjoyment.

Wednesday offered a deep dive into Indigenous Australian culture. Students learned about Aboriginal art, stone tools, and cultural practices, gaining a greater appreciation for the rich heritage of Australia’s First Nations people. The day culminated in a visit to the Queensland Museum, where students engaged with interactive exhibits that brought the morning’s lessons to life.

The theme for Thursday was weather and natural disasters. Students discussed various weather phenomena and their impacts, sharing stories from their own experiences. In the afternoon, the group headed to a local lawn bowling club for a session of barefoot bowling, where they also talked about how weather affects our daily lives. It was an enjoyable and educational day.

Friday wrapped up the week with a focus on whales and marine conservation. Students explored different whale species, their migration patterns along the Australian coast, and the environmental challenges they face. The day concluded with a relaxing picnic at Brisbane’s inner-city Roma Street Parkland, where students celebrated their accomplishments, received certificates, and reflected on their week while playing games in the park.

The week’s grand finale was a whale-watching trip on the Gold Coast. Students had the unique opportunity to observe whales, dolphins, and other marine life up close—a thrilling and memorable experience that perfectly capped off a week full of learning and adventure.
