This week, our students had exciting Brisbane English learning adventures in the Primary Holiday Program! From exploring money and technology to playing games and discovering Brisbane’s iconic attractions, each day was a new opportunity to practise English in engaging and interactive ways. Whether soaring above the city on the Wheel of Brisbane, experimenting at SparkLab, or enjoying the thrills of Movie World, our students embraced every moment. Here’s a recap of the week’s highlights.
Tuesday, 28th January 2025:
Watching, “Money, money, money” by ABBA and Avantgardy Dance group put us in the mood to study Money! We learned about each other countries’ currencies, compared the cost of items in all our various countries and studied a lot of new verbs about money. We focused on the notes and coins in Australia-colours, animals and values. Our afternoon session was spent at South Bank where we soared in the air on the Wheel of Brisbane. The students loved the view and taking photos of the Brisbane vista.
Wednesday, 29th January 2025:
This morning, we shared games we like to play and those we like to watch. The class discussed the importance of rules in games and followed this with a listening activity. We looked at different game phrases and their meanings. Later we played board games. We started with UNO, which is the students’ favourite game. They never miss a chance to play it! Then we checked our skills at Jenga. The students interacted in pairs and small groups playing old favourites – 0 and X, Shark Attack and I Spy.

This Thursday we had fun and learned English by playing games, our topic was “technology” we could talk about technology 100 years ago and 100 years in the future. We explore more about technology and using the needed vocabulary in English by playing picture and word match.
In the afternoon we went to the Queensland Museum in South Bank to explore and discover more about animals and plants from Australia. After this we went to SparkLab to explore physicists and chemical experiments that happen on Earth.

During the afternoon we went to Brisbane Botanical Gardens, they dedicated their time to a scavenger hunt, and we explored the park and took pictures, exploring nature and the unique experience of nature in the middle of Brisbane city.
