
It’s week 2 and the Junior Holiday program continued the fun with even more opportunities for students to build confidence, make friends, and use English in real-life situations.
With a great balance of classroom learning and exciting excursions, it was another week full of energy, laughter, and meaningful learning experiences.
Monday, 19 th January 2026:
For our lesson topic In the classroom, we focussed on new vocabulary and useful phrases in an educational setting. The students then put their learning into action in role-plays to help everyone practice their speaking skills in a fun and interactive way.
After lunch, there was the BROWNS Paper Wings Competition. Teams researched and tested different kinds of paper planes. They competed against each other in four different categories. It was a fun afternoon of creativity and friendly competition! It was a great start to the week.
Tuesday, 20th January 2025:
Tuesday’s topic was Free Time and Hobbies, with a focus on speaking skills and expressing likes and dislikes. Students shared what they enjoy doing in their free time and learned useful vocabulary and grammatical structures to talk about hobbies confidently.
In the afternoon, we headed out for a Strike 10 pin Bowling session. It was a great opportunity for students to relax, have fun, and continue practicing English in a social setting.
Wednesday, 21st January 2025:
Today was Life Experiences, introducing the present perfect tense. Students learned how to talk about experiences they have had in their lives and practiced using the structure through speaking and grammar activities.
Later in the day, students took part in the Browns Tournament, where they competed in a friendly and supportive environment. Teams designed classroom challenges out of commonly found objects such as paper plates, cups, string, ping pong balls etc. They then competed against the other teams for points. It was a super fun way to build confidence, practise teamwork, and develop school spirit.
Thursday, 22nd January 2026:
Today the lesson was all about Shopping. The focus was building vocabulary and learning useful phrases for different stores and services. Students spent time sharing their own shopping experiences and discussing favorite places to shop and favourite things to buy. Students then put their skills into practice through interactive role-plays, simulating real-life scenarios they might encounter while shopping.
In the afternoon, we headed out to downtown Surfers Paradise for some hands-on experience. The students had the chance to explore the shops, practice what they learned in the classroom in a real-world setting while doing some shopping of their own! It was a fun-filled day – everyone loves shopping!
Friday, 23rd January 2026:
Friday was Friends and Making Plans. Students discussed their own social lives and shared usual plans in their home countries. Students learned new vocabulary and useful phrases for inviting friends out and organizing activities. To practice our new words, we played a lively game of Charades, where students had to act out and guess different social activities!
In the afternoon, we headed to the park to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine together playing some Aussie sports and games. It was a wonderful way to end the week, building new friendships and enjoying the beautiful outdoors!
Saturday, 24h January 2025:
To wrap up Week 2, students enjoyed a full-day excursion to Dreamworld. The group spent the day exploring the rides, attractions, and themed areas of one of Australia’s most famous theme parks. There were tigers, Aussie animals and a crocodile presentation to see. Students also enjoyed the thrill rides – The King Claw, The Steel Taipan and The Giant Drop. For those not into fast and high, there were plenty of other exciting options like the Deep Sea Dodgems, The Moto coaster, The Shockwave and the Serpent Slayer.
It was an exciting and unforgettable experience, and a perfect reward after a week of learning and collaboration.
Week 2 was another fantastic chapter of our Junior Holiday Program. Students continued to grow in confidence, build friendships, and use English in meaningful and enjoyable ways.
