Learning, Exploring, and Creating Together

Week 2 in the PSP and PSP+ programs was filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and exciting experiences. Students practised English across subjects while exploring food, science, culture, movement, and self-expression. Here’s a look at what our students did this week:

🇦🇺 Monday: Australian Food
Our week began with a Math lesson on measuring, tailored to each level. Younger students practised counting and number recognition in a fun and engaging way, helping them build confidence with numbers.

In the afternoon, students learned about and made Australian food during a cooking class. The focus was on lamingtons, a much-loved Australian treat. Students followed English instructions to measure, mix, and decorate their own lamingtons, enjoying the process and the results.

🧗 Tuesday: Indoor Climbing
Tuesday included Indoor Climbing, where students practised confidence, coordination, and teamwork.

In Science, students conducted a sense of smell experiment, exploring how we use our senses to understand the world.
During Computers, they learned about changes in technologies and how technology has developed over time.

🎨 Wednesday: Indigenous Art
Wednesday’s learning focused on plants and nature. In Science, students explored a walking in my country sensory journey and learned about the life cycle and parts of plants, building both vocabulary and understanding.

Students also learned how Australia’s First Nations people respect and connect with the land. In the afternoon, they expressed this learning through Indigenous-inspired art, creating colourful works that reflected culture, care, and creativity.

⛸️ Thursday: Ice Skating
On Thursday, students went ice skating, developing balance, confidence, and social skills.

In class, students worked on speaking and listening, along with phonics, through a texture hunt, encouraging them to describe what they could feel using English.

🎬 Friday: Cinema Day
The week ended with a Cinema Day, where students watched the new SpongeBob movie

In Writing, students created a 5 senses poem, using descriptive language inspired by their experiences.
In Art, they worked on “My inner and outer self”, reflecting on feelings, identity, and creativity.

✅ That’s a wrap on Week 2!
Week 2 was a wonderful mix of academic learning, cultural exploration, and fun activities. Students continued to build confidence in English while learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences.
