
Monday – Social Media & Technology – 9 February 2026
On Monday, students explored the topic of social media and technology, focusing on language used to talk about digital devices, apps, and everyday online activities. Lessons encouraged students to share how they use technology, discuss favourite apps or games, and practise simple explanations about screen time and online habits. The focus was on clear speaking, listening, and age-appropriate discussion.
In the afternoon, students enjoyed a Ping Pong competition. These games provided an active way to practise instructions, turn-taking, and teamwork, while using English naturally in a relaxed environment.
Tuesday – Aussie Culture & Etiquette – 10 February 2026
Tuesday’s lessons introduced students to Australian culture and etiquette, with a focus on functional language used in everyday situations. Students learned polite expressions, common social behaviours, and appropriate ways to interact in different contexts, helping them feel more confident navigating daily life in Australia.
In the afternoon, students travelled by bus and ferry to visit the Wheel of Brisbane, where they enjoyed a picnic lunch. The excursion offered opportunities to practise transport-related language, describe views of the city, and share experiences with classmates.
Wednesday – Australian Culture & Slang – 11 February 2026
On Wednesday, students continued exploring Australian culture by learning about common slang and informal expressions. Listening and speaking activities helped students recognise meaning from context and practise pronunciation in a supportive classroom environment.
In the afternoon, students took part in a cooking activity, making chocolate spiders and chocolate ripple cake. This hands-on experience encouraged students to follow instructions, learn food-related vocabulary, and work cooperatively while using English in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
Thursday – Queensland Tourism – 12 February 2026
Thursday’s lessons focused on Queensland tourism, with reading activities introducing students to popular destinations and attractions around the state. Students practised identifying key information, expanding topic-related vocabulary, and sharing opinions about places they would like to visit.
In the afternoon, students visited Spark Lab, where they engaged in interactive science-based activities. The excursion encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, and communication, allowing students to use English while exploring and experimenting.
Friday – Nature & Wildlife – 13 February 2026
Friday’s lessons explored nature and wildlife, with a focus on animal vocabulary and reading comprehension. Students learned about different animals and natural environments, building topic-specific language through discussion and short reading tasks.
In the afternoon, students visited Roma Street Parklands playgrounds, where they enjoyed outdoor play while practising social language, cooperation, and communication with classmates.
Saturday – Australia Zoo – 14 February 2026
Saturday was a highlight of the week with a full-day excursion to Australia Zoo. Students travelled by private transfer and spent the day exploring one of Queensland’s most iconic wildlife attractions.
Throughout the visit, students practised practical English skills such as reading signs, learning animal-related vocabulary, asking questions, and sharing information about exhibits. The excursion provided a memorable opportunity to connect classroom learning with real-world experiences.
Week 5 Conclusion
Week 5 offered PSP+ students a balanced mix of structured learning, hands-on activities, and real-world experiences. By exploring topics such as technology, Australian culture, tourism, and wildlife, students continued developing confidence and communication skills in engaging and age-appropriate ways. We look forward to another exciting week ahead.
