Monday – Food & Meals – 9 Feb 2026

The week began with a focus on food and meals, where students learned vocabulary related to ingredients, cooking methods, and everyday dining situations. Lessons encouraged students to talk about their favourite foods, meals from their home countries, and eating habits.

In the afternoon, students took part in a Cooking + Food Vlog activity. Working in groups, they planned and recorded short food-themed videos, practising descriptive language and sequencing while presenting their ideas in English. This activity combined creativity, speaking practice, and teamwork.

Tuesday – Holidays – 10 Feb 2026

Tuesday’s lessons explored holidays and travel, with students sharing experiences from past trips and discussing dream destinations. Activities focused on talking about places, activities, and feelings associated with travel.

In the afternoon, students visited the Wheel of Brisbane, travelling by ferry and bus. The outing provided a great opportunity to practise travel-related language and observe Brisbane from a new perspective. Students discussed what they could see and shared impressions using newly learned vocabulary.

Wednesday – My Country – 11 Feb 2026

On Wednesday, students focused on presenting information about their home countries. Lessons supported students in describing geography, culture, food, and traditions, while encouraging clear and confident speaking.

The afternoon English Podcast/Interview activity allowed students to record short podcast-style segments about their countries. This task helped students practise pronunciation, fluency, and organisation of ideas while speaking in a relaxed and supportive environment.

In the afternoon, students took part in a creative Fashion Show Activity, where they designed and made outfits using recycled materials. They then presented their creations to the class, describing their designs and explaining their choices in English. This activity encouraged creativity, teamwork, and confident speaking, while reinforcing important messages about sustainability and responsible consumption.

Thursday – Shopping – 12 Feb 2026

Thursday’s theme was shopping, with lessons covering useful vocabulary and phrases for asking questions, comparing prices, and making purchases. Role-plays helped students practise real-life interactions they may encounter while shopping in Australia.

In the afternoon, students visited Queen Street Mall, where they were able to apply classroom language in authentic situations. The excursion encouraged independence, observation, and practical communication skills.

Friday – Transport & Giving Directions – 13 Feb 2026

Friday focused on transport and giving directions. Students practised explaining routes, asking for help, and understanding common transport vocabulary. Lessons included map-based activities and collaborative tasks to reinforce clarity and accuracy.

In the afternoon, students enjoyed team-building relays at Roma Street Parklands. These outdoor activities promoted cooperation, listening skills, and natural use of English in a fun and energetic setting.

Saturday – Australia Zoo – 14 Feb 2026

Saturday was a highlight of the week with a full-day excursion to Australia Zoo. Students travelled by private transfer and spent the day exploring one of Australia’s most iconic attractions.

Throughout the excursion, students practised practical English skills such as reading signs, asking questions, and sharing information about animals and exhibits. The experience combined learning, excitement, and real-world language use, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

Conclusion

Week 5 provided students with meaningful opportunities to use English in everyday contexts, from food and shopping to travel and directions. Through creative projects, excursions, and hands-on activities, students continued developing confidence, independence, and communication skills. We look forward to another engaging week ahead as the program continues.
