Students then dove into a vocabulary-building session exploring everyday English expressions, practising new words through interactive games and group activities. The session wrapped up with a collaborative quiz to reinforce the day’s learning, building confidence and communication skills in a relaxed environment.
In the afternoon, students got creative with a tote bag painting activity! Everyone designed and painted their very own tote bags, expressing their personalities through art while practising descriptive language β and taking home a fantastic keepsake to remember the week by.
ποΈ Tuesday: Language Skills & Old Melbourne Gaol
Tuesday’s morning session focused on reading and listening skills, with students working through engaging texts and activities to build comprehension and expand their vocabulary. In the afternoon, students ventured out to the Old Melbourne Gaol for an unforgettable excursion! They explored the historic site, learning about Melbourne’s fascinating β and sometimes spooky β history while practising their English in a real-world setting. It was a brilliant opportunity to combine cultural learning with language development.
π¦πΊ Wednesday: Aussie Slang & Sports in the Park
Wednesday morning kicked off with a simplified version of Boggle as a warm-up to get everyone’s brains buzzing. Students then explored a slideshow of musical instruments, listing as many as they could before expanding into broader music-related vocabulary. A Kahoot quiz helped consolidate all the new words. In the second half of the morning, students chose music they love and shared it with the class, using a worksheet template to help describe their opinions and express how the music made them feel. The session finished with an energetic round of Pictionary.
In the afternoon, students ventured out to ArtVo for an incredible immersive art experience, posing with 3D artworks and exploring creativity in a totally unique way!
