After studying the Barista @ BROWNS course, Chatcha and Tony from Thailand have returned to their home country to start their own café business, Meerkatto Café. It is located in Chiang Mai City and as you can see in the pictures below, the food and drinks are irresistible. Meerkatto is not just another Café in Thailand. As they explain, it is a completely different concept because it mixes the coffee cultures from Thailand and Australia. They use techniques like no other café and they provide an atmosphere where customers can relax.
Chatcha and Tony came to Australia, like other international students, looking for new experiences with the desire to learn the most they could from our culture. They chose Brisbane as the city in which to study, but the next decision they had to make was not an easy one. As entrepreneurs, they knew very well that studying overseas is an investment in their own future, so they wanted to choose their English School carefully; they wanted to study in a high-quality institution where they could get the most from their money and time. They undertook serious research and finally decided to come to BROWNS. In their own words, “BROWNS is the best school in Brisbane.”
While in Australia, seeing other international students working in coffee shops aroused their curiosity about this industry and they decided to join the Barista @ BROWNS course. The best thing about it was the knowledge they got about coffee–from seed to cup. They learnt that coffee is a culture in Australia and that baristas should know everything about it, not just how to sell it.
The mix of skills they got from the Barista@BROWNS course, plus their other experiences in Australia, and their entrepreneurship, led them to open Meerkatto which we are sure will be a huge success in Thailand. We cannot wait to visit them in Chiang Mai.
