Barista@BROWNS students visit Wolff Coffee Roasters

Barista@BROWNS students do not only learn theory and improve their skills in the class room, they also have the opportunity to partake what coffee professionals do in real life. The industry professionals at Wolff Coffee Roasters never fail to inspire our students to pursue a career in coffee. For this excursion, they took the keen students on a crop to cup tour where they showed them what happens behind the scenes. From plants, dried green beans, live-action roaster, packing, grinding and finally the cupping. Students get to participate in a cupping session, which is the international way of grading and evaluating coffee. They were able to try single origin beans from countries such as Ethiopia and Puerto Rico, and used vocabulary from the classes to describe what each of them can taste in each cup. Overall, it was a fantastic day out!
