A Day at Surfer’s Paradise
Australians spend much of their free time outside, enjoying the sun, the beach and sports, and this is part and parcel of life at an Australian high school too. On Wednesday, our Gold Coast under-18 classes did the second stage of their surf-lifesaving activities (click here to see stage 1) and then followed this up with a summary task in class. The kids (and teachers Andrea and Vanessa) all went on the tram and stopped at Surfer’s Paradise and walked to the beach from there. At the beach, everyone participated in a water-safety session and some hands-on activities. They also did some physical tasks to understand what it is like to be a surf lifesaver with role play activities on the beach. All that work, and it was important to have a bite to eat and a drink after!
