Daffodil Day is one of Australia’s best known and most popular fundraising events.
BROWNS has donated $2 for every staff member and student who wore anything yellow on 25 August (Gold Coast) and 26 August (Brisbane). This money will go to the Cancer Council and help with cancer research and ultimately beat cancer.
Our lessons on these days incorporated an hour on the topic of cancer research, and what we can all do to reduce the risks. This included authentic listening on using sunscreen, how to be “sunsmart” in Australia, An ABC video on how people get cancer, and a TED video on the future of cancer research.
It’s such an important issue in Australia; we feel it is vital to incorporate a large part of our corporate social responsibility throughout the year to cancer research.
