English for Academic

How the Advanced English Academic Practice (AEAP) Course Helped Me Create My Own Opportunity

Many international students come to Australia with a dream to study, grow, and open new opportunities for their future, but to succeed in university or professional life, strong academic English is essential.

That’s why BROWNS English Language School (BROWNS) created the Advanced English Academic Practice (AEAP) course. It helps students develop the skills they need to write, research, and communicate with confidence in academic and professional settings.

For one student from Peru, this course became the key to turning her dream into reality. Her story shows that with courage, planning, and the right support, it’s possible to create your own opportunity.

💬 Student Story: Advancing My Academic English in Australia

What inspired me to enrol in an Academic English course at one of Australia’s most recognised English language schools with my Work and Holiday Visa?

Two weeks ago, I began my Advanced English Academic Practice (AEAP) course at BROWNS English Language School in Brisbane – one of the challenges on my personal bucket list.

But what truly motivated me to make this decision? 🧐

From my own experience, I’ve always struggled with the abstract and critical thinking required for Academic English, whether applying for scholarships or participating in in-depth discussions about global issues.

Are we really prepared to share our perspectives and research findings in front of an audience when English is our second language?

This stage of my life feels especially meaningful. Since 2020, I’ve dreamed of this experience. After facing unsuccessful scholarship applications, I decided to create my own opportunity. 💪🏼

Thanks to my Work and Holiday visa, I can study for up to 16 weeks in Australia, and I chose to invest this time in improving my academic English and professional communication skills.

Now, I’m enjoying an intensive, advanced learning experience alongside classmates from New Caledonia, Spain, Japan, South Korea, Colombia and Peru – all preparing for the next steps in our careers.

Thank you, BROWNS, for welcoming me and being part of my journey. 🚀
