Enola from France, arrived on the Gold Coast in July 2022 to commence the English plus Surfing program at BROWNS English Language School. Here’s what she had to say about her experience.
“I mean, the Gold Coast is the perfect destination to surf and I didn’t want to go back to France without taking at least one lesson.
It’s winter in Australia so at first the weather was terrible and the waves were really rough. It was so difficult to learn how to surf with the rain, and the wind so I wasn’t very confident. However, the coaches were very kind and friendly, always there to help me. With the surf lessons, sometimes I’m in a group so it allowed me to have two hours of class instead of one, so it’s very great, especially because I can practice on my own without following the group. I have plenty of time to learn, to be trained.
My last few lessons were incredible. The sun was out, the waves were not too big and it was the perfect conditions to improve all the skills the coaches taught me. It worked! I was more confident, I knew what I was doing, I was in control and I had so much fun. Without forgetting that it’s so hard to stand up on the board, I always fell down after one second.
I’m convinced that if people who come to the Gold Coast don’t try surfing during their stay, they’ll miss out.

BROWNS English Language School‘s English plus Surfing program combines Intensive General English program with two (one-hour) surf lessons per week at the Cheyne Horan School of Surf (Australia’s No.1 Surf School) in Surfers Paradise.
All surf lessons are conducted by accredited professional surfing coaches from ‘Surfing Australia’. Surf lessons include surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits, rash vests and evaluation reports. Students who successfully complete this course will be awarded a Surfing Certificate from the Cheyne Horan School of Surfing (Australia’s No.1 Surf School) and a Graduation Certificate from BROWNS English Language School.
