High School Preparation students participated in the Operation Christmas Child – Pack a Shoebox as part of BROWNS Elevate initiative this month.’ Operation Christmas Child’ is run by The Samaritan’s Purse International Relief Australia.

Each year they ask people to fill a shoebox with gifts for underprivileged children around the world & deliver them for Christmas. It is often the first time these children have received Christmas presents.

Each shoebox has 6 items in it:

-something to wear

-something for school

-something to play with

-something for personal hygiene

-something special

-something to love

High School Preparation students on the Gold Coast went shopping with their assigned categories eg: girl or boy  2-4 years, girl or boy 5-9 years girl or boy 10-14 years.

Each group packed the gifts they bought into shoeboxes & wrote a personal little Christmas note for the 8 lucky recipients of the boxes, which included a little about themselves & a Christmas wish.

Students then went with their teacher to the local collection point for Operation Christmas child – Juice 107.3 fm radio Gold Coast.

They met the breakfast DJ Matt & saw the studio where he works as well. Juice staff took a photo of us, so keep your eye out on  Facebook for that.
