Study and explore the Gold Coast

Study and explore the Gold Coast with PSP+ at BROWNS

What an exciting week we’ve had in our July-August 2025 Junior Holiday Program, PSP+ class (7-11 years old) on the Gold Coast. Here’s a quick look at our learning and adventures from week 3 of the program:

Monday, 28th July 2025 – Money Maths, Mystery and Magic

We kicked off the week with getting to know you games and getting to know the Australian currency. We explored the notes and coins of Australia and practiced spending money on items. In the afternoon we tried our hand at some magic tricks and card games.

Tuesday, 29th July 2025 – Language & Bowling Fun

We explored language and vocabulary related to money through games and group work. In Science, we began learning about renewable and non-renewable energy sources. Then we caught the tram for a fun excursion to tenpin bowling, practicing real-life English in a playful setting.

Wednesday, 30th July 2025 – Renewable Energy

On Wednesday, we dove into HASS (Humanities and Social Sciences) learning about shopping in the past compared to now. What it looked like and what type of currency was used. Then we had a go at designing our own currency. Students created some beautiful examples of their currency to show their understanding. After we had a fashion show and watched some of the older students showcase their designs.

Thursday, 31st July 2025 – Towns and villages, dance class

Today, we distinguished the differences between towns/cities and the countryside/villages. We learned about all the different body parts and got active with some dance classes. We had a warm-up boogie at school then walked over to the dance studio to learn some fun dance moves and play games.

Friday, 1st July 2025 – Toy shop, role play and scavenger hunt

After our week of learning all about money and shopping, we put our knowledge into practice by creating our own shops and acting out a real-life shopping scenario where we had to use specific vocabulary to ask about products, prices and more. Later, we discussed what a scavenger hunt is and completed one in school, followed by an outdoor one in the park. We had lots of fun trying to find as many items as possible from our list.

Saturday, 2nd July 2025 – Movie World

It was a thrilling and fun-filled day out to the Movie World Theme Park on Saturday. We enjoyed some terrifying rollercoasters, live shows, meeting movie characters and finished the day with a movie star parade. It was a beautiful day with lots of laughter and excitement.
