Step into the exciting world of Week 5 in the Brisbane Junior Holiday Program at BROWNS English Language School. This week was full of fun learning, exciting adventures, and unforgettable moments. Our students discovered how to talk about their likes and dislikes, and they had amazing experiences that helped them practice English in real life. Plus, they had an unforgettable day at Australia Zoo, where they got to see incredible animals up close. Let’s take a closer look at the special moments that made this week unforgettable!

Monday, August 14, 2023 – Exploring Interests and Leisure
During today’s session, students delved into new vocabulary and grammar related to expressing preferences and dislikes for activities. The learning involved engaging tasks such as completing worksheets, solving jigsaw puzzles, conducting interviews, participating in dialogues, and enjoying interactive Kahoot quizzes. The day wrapped up with a popcorn-fueled movie screening followed by classic card games like Uno and Go Fish.

Tuesday, August 15, 2023 – Conversations about Weather
On this day, students focused on enriching their vocabulary by discussing various weather conditions. They also learned about the nuanced grammar associated with using “to be going to (be)” in connection with Nouns, Verbs, and Adjectives. Activities encompassed diverse learning methods, including Kahoot challenges, team-based games, listening exercises, and reading tasks. The afternoon highlight was an energetic tennis session at the Roy Emmerson tennis centre.

Thursday, August 17, 2023 – Language in Action
Learning a language is more than merely memorising new vocabulary and practising grammar rules. Students need opportunities to apply their language skills in real-world situations, and what better way to achieve this than through an exhilarating game of laser tag? Thursday afternoon witnessed students immersed in a heart-pounding laser tag match, using English as their primary means of communication. This engaging activity not only honed their language skills but also fostered teamwork and forged lasting memories.

Friday, August 18, 2023 – Enchanting Picnic Experience
Friday afternoon treated students to a delightful picnic outing, infusing a sense of relaxation into language learning. The picturesque setting provided the perfect backdrop for applying language skills in a natural and comfortable atmosphere. The picnic spread featured iconic Australian treats like lamingtons, fairy bread, and vegemite crackers. Additionally, musical talents shone as students strummed the guitar and sang along to beloved English tunes like “Let It Go” from Frozen. The day was a tapestry of beautiful moments etched in memory.
