Holiday Program

Welcome to the start of our Junior Holiday Program in Brisbane. Last week, we welcomed our first group of students from seven different countries, and over the next few weeks, we look forward to greeting even more young learners as they join us in this enriching and fun-filled adventure. Our Junior Holiday Program is designed to provide a unique blend of educational activities and memorable experiences, ensuring that every student has an unforgettable time while improving their English skills and making new friends.

Here’s a recap of the first week in Brisbane:

Icebreakers and Australian Culture
The week began with engaging icebreaker activities, allowing students to introduce themselves and bond with their new classmates. They explored Australia’s geography, history, and Aboriginal culture, creating posters and presentations on famous Australian attractions. Interactive games and quizzes, including Kahoot and trivia, kept the learning fun and competitive.

Classroom Language and SparkLab Adventure
Students practised classroom language through word searches, PowerPoint presentations, and guessing games with school supplies. They also reviewed grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. An afternoon trip to SparkLab at the Queensland Museum provided a hands-on learning experience about nature, seasons, chemistry, and planets. The students filled out information sheets and enjoyed the interactive exhibits.

Transport and Directions
Midweek activities focused on transport and direction vocabulary. Students used the TransLink app to plan a trip around Brisbane and presented their plans to the class. A scavenger hunt at South Bank allowed them to explore famous spots such as the Brisbane sign, Streets Beach, and the Brisbane Wheel, encouraging teamwork and practical application of their new language skills.

Technology and Bowling
The theme of technology introduced students to tech-specific vocabulary and concepts like digital detox and internet safety. They created videos using the Capcut app and discussed safe online practices. One of the days concluded with a fun-filled bowling session at Queen Street.

Sports and Outdoor Fun
Friday’s focus on sports involved learning related vocabulary and grammar through word searches, Kahoot quizzes, and discussions about Olympic sports. In the afternoon, students headed to Roma Park for various sports activities such as soccer, volleyball, and rope jumping. They also recorded videos showcasing the park’s beauty and nature.

Dreamworld Excursion
The first week ended with a thrilling trip to Dreamworld on the Gold Coast. Students experienced exciting rides, met Australian animals like kangaroos and koalas, and enjoyed the company of their friends. It was a day full of adventure, fun, and discovery, making it a perfect end to an eventful week.

Overall, the first week of our Junior Holiday Program in Brisbane was a huge success, filled with learning, fun, and new friendships. We can’t wait to see what the upcoming weeks have in store for our students. Stay tuned next week.
