Welcome to BROWNS English Language School‘s Brisbane Junior Holiday Program blog! We are thrilled to share with you the incredible experiences and language-learning journey of our talented students from diverse corners of the world. Last week was nothing short of amazing as we welcomed bright young minds from Japan, China, Taiwan, and Russia to embark on a one-of-a-kind adventure in the heart of Brisbane. Join us as we take you through the unforgettable moments and captivating activities that made Week 1 truly special. From cultural exchange to exciting excursions and engaging classroom sessions, the first week laid the foundation for an unforgettable experience that promises even more excitement in the weeks to come.

Day 1 – Monday, 18/07/2023:
The students kicked off their first day with a morning orientation and welcome party, where they engaged in ice-breaker games and introduced themselves. The class focused on Australian cities and geography, and interactive tools like Kahoot games, puzzles, and reading worksheets were used for exercises. In the afternoon, the students participated in a fun Kahoot competition and sentence race, with the winning team receiving a koala toy as a prize.

Day 2 – Tuesday, 19/07/2023:
On the second day, the morning session focused on school supplies, subjects, and functional language useful for their everyday lives in the classroom. The goal was to provide them with practical language skills. In the afternoon, the students had a blast at the Holey Moley Golf Club in Brisbane City, playing Mini Golf while communicating in English and having fun.

Day 3 – Wednesday, 20/07/2023:
The captivating world of cinema awaited the students on the third day. They immersed themselves in learning vocabulary related to movies and even wrote short reviews after watching a film. Later in the afternoon, they enjoyed an English film screening with popcorn, candy, and soft drinks for the full movie experience.

Day 4 – Thursday, 21/07/2023:
Thursday was a day of cultural exchange, as the students shared aspects of their own nations and explored their sense of belonging and identity. They created hands-on posters and showcased currencies from their countries, making the learning experience enriching. In the afternoon, they had an active and enjoyable English practice session during a barefoot bowls activity at The Boo.

Day 5 – Friday, 22/07/2023:
The students had a playful day on Friday, starting with an animal matching game. Australian animals were introduced through reading exercises. In the afternoon, they visited the Botanic Garden and played a scavenger hunting game, learning new vocabulary related to their surroundings.

Day 6 – Saturday, 23/07/2023:
The final day was a highlight as the students visited Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. They had hands-on experiences like feeding kangaroos, watching a flight raptor show, and discovering the uniqueness of the platypus. It was the perfect conclusion to an amazing Week 1, with everyone looking forward to the adventures of Week 2!
