Wildlife Activities

Unforgettable Wildlife Activities in our Brisbane Junior Holiday Program

Welcome back to our Junior Holiday Program. We’re excited to share the highlights of another fun-filled and educational week. Here’s a recap of the second week in Brisbane:

Food and Recipes
The week began with a focus on food and recipes. Students participated in interactive activities like a Kahoot quiz about food, a lesson called “What’s your signature dish?”, and a Food Frenzy board game where they created their own recipes. In the afternoon, students got hands-on in the kitchen, making lamingtons from scratch, which was both an enjoyable and educational experience.

Animal Adventures
Our exploration of the animal kingdom included a variety of wildlife activities such as “guess the animal” games, video discussions, and scavenger hunts. Students watched educational videos and filled in worksheets to learn more about different animals. A highlight of the week was the thrilling reptile show which gave them the opportunity to interact with snakes, turtles, and even a juvenile crocodile, providing a hands-on learning experience about wildlife.

Cultural Exploration and Art
Midweek activities centred around cultural exchange and creativity. Students engaged in discussions about their home countries, traditions, and customs. They played games like “Say the same thing” and used platforms such as Skribbl to enhance their language skills. A visit to the Brisbane Arcades allowed them to unwind and enjoy games like race car driving and Dance Dance Revolution, fostering a fun and interactive environment.

Games and Modern Art
Students explored global themes through activities like Geoguessr and trivia challenges about different countries. They paired up with classmates from other countries to discuss various cultural topics, enhancing their global awareness. A visit to the Gallery of Modern Art near the Brisbane Museum provided an enriching experience where students could appreciate diverse artworks and draw inspiration for their own creative projects.

Nature and Wildlife
The week ended with a focus on nature and wildlife. Students completed worksheets and discussed nature-related topics in pairs. In the afternoon, they visited the City Botanic Gardens for an Australian-themed scavenger hunt, exploring the gardens and enjoying some leisure time.

Day Trip to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary
On Saturday, the students took an exciting day trip to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. They saw koalas up close, fed kangaroos, watched a raptor show, and explored various animal exhibits. This trip provided unforgettable encounters with Australia’s unique wildlife and left students with cherished memories.

Overall, the second week of our Junior Holiday Program in Brisbane was another success, filled with learning, fun, and new experiences. We look forward to continuing this journey with our students in the coming weeks. Stay tuned for more adventures next week.
