Gold Coast Junior Camp – Week Two
Monday
Morning: We welcomed more new students, played some games & practised ‘making arrangements’ with new friends.
Afternoon: Students got a bird’s eye view of the GC at Skypoint from the 77th floor of the Q1 building in Surfers Paradise. Then we walked barefoot in the sand at Main Beach.
Tuesday
Morning: Cooking verbs, measurements & writing recipes was the topic in class today. Students all wrote a recipe from their own country to share with the class.
Afternoon: Students followed a recipe & made an iconic Aussie snack -LAMINGTONS- in the sunshine by the sea.
Wednesday
Morning: We went to Paradise Country bright and early this morning. Students saw koalas, fed kangaroos, saw baby farm animals, Lorikeets & dingoes. We saw Billy Tea & damper being made & got to taste it. We watched boomerang throwing & whip cracking. We saw a sheep being sheared & watched a great Aussie sheepdog rounding them up.
Afternoon: Students read about some iconic Aussie animals & answered comprehension questions about them. They also had fun doing KAHOOT quizzes.
Thursday
Morning: Beach Safety was the topic of classes today. Students learned about Surf Life Savers & made a video of tips to stay safe while having fun at the beach.
Afternoon: Lots of fun was had at Broadwater Parklands this afternoon. Paddling in the sea, playing on the swings, the flying fox & the giant jumping pillow.
Friday
Morning: Students studied the vocabulary of jobs & used the present simple & present continuous tenses to talk about them.
Afternoon: A fun CLASS PARTY ended the day while we sadly said goodbye to some of our friends. There was pizza, sushi & soft drink. Students had fun playing Playstation 4, WII sports & 8 ball pool. Others spent a quiet afternoon colouring in, signing autographs & listening to music.
Saturday
All day excursion to Seaworld today. Students went on rides & rollercoasters, they also saw penguins & polar bears, sharks & giant stingrays. They watched a seal show & a jet ski show & the Dolphin show was of course a highlight!
