Legoland and More: Week 5 of PSP+ in Melbourne
Week 5 of the Primary School Preparation Plus (PSP+) at BROWNS English Language School in Melbourne was filled with problem-solving, adventure, creativity, and celebrations. Each day combined engaging English lessons with exciting real-world activities, giving students opportunities to expand vocabulary, practise teamwork, and share their experiences confidently. Here’s a look at how the week unfolded:
Monday, August 11 – Detective Adventure & Mystery Games
We kicked off the week by becoming detectives! Students explored descriptive language and sequencing words as they worked through a series of puzzles and mystery challenges. In the afternoon, they put their problem-solving skills to the test with detective-themed games, practising observation and communication in English while solving clues.
Tuesday, August 12 – Laser Tag
On Tuesday, teamwork was the focus. Morning lessons centred on action verbs and strategy-related vocabulary, preparing students for an energetic afternoon of laser tag. Working in teams, they developed tactics, gave directions in English, and celebrated every win with plenty of encouragement. The activity built both confidence and cooperation.
Wednesday, August 13 – SnapQuest & Content Creation
Midweek was all about creativity and digital storytelling. Students learned vocabulary for photography and storytelling structures, then headed out on a SnapQuest challenge. They captured images, created short narratives, and practised presenting their content in English. The day blended technology, art, and language learning in a fun, modern way.
Thursday, August 14 – Ian Potter Centre & Scavenger Hunt
Thursday connected art, culture, and adventure. In the morning, students explored descriptive writing and discussed colours, shapes, and emotions in art. At the Ian Potter Centre, they viewed Australian artworks, asking questions and sharing reflections in English. Afterwards, a scavenger hunt encouraged teamwork and quick thinking as students raced to find hidden clues.
Friday, August 15 – Class Party & Goodbyes
We ended the week on a high note with celebrations and reflection. Students practised past tense to talk about their favourite activities from the week, then enjoyed a lively class party. There were games, music, snacks, and lots of smiles as we said goodbye to our new friends. It was a heartwarming finish to our final PSP+ week.
Saturday, August 16 – Legoland Discovery Centre
To round off the program for the year, students visited the Legoland Discovery Centre. They marvelled at the creative Lego displays, practised vocabulary for shapes, colours, and building, and even worked together on mini Lego challenges. The visit combined play, imagination, and English practice — a fun and inspiring way to finish the week.
This week highlighted teamwork, creativity, and communication. From solving mysteries to creating digital content, from exploring art to celebrating friendships, our PSP+ students continued to grow in confidence and English ability. We are proud of their achievements and hope to see familiar faces in next year’s program!
