The first day of our language and cultural learning week was an exciting start. The teacher met her enthusiastic group of students and the session commenced with a fun icebreaker where everyone introduced themselves while creating playful movements. Initially, some students were hesitant, but soon enough, laughter filled the room as they loosened up. They explored greetings in various languages, expressing their likes through drawings and sharing life experiences. In the afternoon, cool games further fostered the bond among the students, and the day ended on a positive note with plenty of smiles.

The second day had a special focus on the theme of “Shopping”. Students delved into money-related vocabulary and expressions, learning about clothing, electronics, and food. They also practiced asking for prices, sizes, and ordering food and drinks at restaurants and cafes. In a practical application of their knowledge, the students visited the nearby Australia Fair Shopping Center and spent two hours exploring different stores and practicing their English language skills acquired during the morning class.

Wednesday proved to be an engaging day. The students started by learning about technology and discussing the future of the world. They watched various videos and engaged in a debate about modern devices. In class, they collaborated in pairs to create and present their innovative product concepts, using their creativity and English language skills. After lunch, the students enjoyed a lively party with the school staff, where they played video games, danced, sang, and had fun socialising with their friends.

Thursday, July 27, 2023:
The theme for Thursday was “Wildlife and Nature in Australia”. Students revisited the topic of animals and deepened their knowledge about the unique wildlife of Australia. They watched educational videos on animals and learned about comparatives and superlatives. Engaging in activities, they created posters showcasing Australia’s diverse animal life. To wrap up the class, they participated in a quiz about the country and practiced the topic. In the afternoon, they had an extraordinary encounter with various Australian reptiles, presented by Wild Rangers. This hands-on experience allowed them to touch and interact with snakes, crocodiles, lizards, and even fed a tawny frogmouth, giving them a deeper appreciation for Australia’s wildlife.

The final day of the week’s classes focused on “Transport and Directions”. The class mastered ways to get around the city, express locations using prepositions, and provide directions to destinations. In a lively game, blindfolded students had to navigate obstacles with the guidance of their classmates, leading to uproarious laughter. The afternoon was spent at the Broadwater Parklands for a picture scavenger hunt. Students formed groups and completed various challenges, resulting in fantastic photos and videos. It was the perfect end to an enriching and enjoyable language and cultural learning week.
