Welcome to Week 3 of Brisbane‘s Junior Holiday Program. Keep reading as we recount the highlights of our unforgettable trip to Movieworld and the enriching educational experiences our students enjoyed along the way.

Monday 05.02.2024 – Music (Listening) and Just Dance/games
Students practiced their listening skills by learning about genres of music and how to effectively describe their music choices. The class researched the history of music artists and completed comprehension questions related. They also had fun playing music-related games, such as ‘Just dance”.

Tuesday 06.02.2024 – Shopping for clothes (Speaking) and Shopping in Brisbane
In the afternoon students went out into Brisbane city to practice their skills. They used the language that they had learned to order food, count money, and ask for a receipt. They also had a great deal of fun in Brisbane CBD’s Uptown Shopping Mall.

Wednesday 07.02.2024 – My Family (Writing), Writing about a family member and Craft Activities
In the morning students learned about families, the names of family members, and how to describe their family. This was followed by writing and comprehension activities. The students watched engaging videos to learn about conventional and non-conventional family structures.

Thursday 08.02.2024 – Animals (Vocab) and Reptile Visit
In class students studied vocabulary related to Australian animals, they practiced the vocabulary and continued to converse about their favourite animals. In the afternoon students had a visit from the Wild Rangers. The fun-packed afternoon included learning about reptiles, some animal handling, and caring for the environment.

Friday 09.02.2024 – Sports, Roma Park Sports and Picnic
Friday’s theme was everything to do with sport. Students learned about different sports in Australia and across the world, and they practiced conversation about sporting preferences. In the afternoon the class went to Roma Street Parkland and played a variety of outdoor sports.

Saturday 10.02.2024 – Movieworld
Students jumped onboard a minibus at 9am and headed down to the Gold Coast for a fun day at Movieworld. Everyone had the opportunity to meet beloved characters from their favourite movies and experience the adrenaline rush of the rides.
