Let’s make the most of this fantastic opportunity to grow, learn, and create lasting memories together.

Monday, July 31, 2023 – Australian Animals
On Monday, we had a fascinating day discussing life experiences, with a focus on zoo visits and our encounters with animals. We excitedly shared our encounters with various Australian animals during our trips to the zoo. It was captivating to hear about the unique creatures everyone had observed.

During our grammar lessons, we delved into the Present Perfect tense. We engaged in fun activities, such as “Kahoot – Australian Animals,” which tested our knowledge in an interactive manner. Additionally, we worked on worksheets centered around the Present Perfect tense, and to make things even more enjoyable, we played a lively Bingo game. The “Cut & Glue Jigsaw Game” challenged us to construct full sentences in the Present Perfect tense, providing a practical and entertaining way to reinforce our learning.

In the afternoon, we relaxed and engaged in enjoyable activities like Just Dance, learning new songs, and playing various board games together.

Tuesday, August 1, 2023 – Cities and the Wheel of Brisbane Adventure
On Tuesday, our focus shifted to cities, streets, and giving directions. Through various activities, we learned which prepositions are used when providing directions. Engaging videos about giving directions in the city enriched our understanding, and we expanded our vocabulary using Quizlet. To test our newfound knowledge, we played Kahoot and practiced giving directions to one another in class. In the afternoon, we embarked on an exciting journey to the Wheel of Brisbane, where we marveled at the breathtaking city views. Cameras in hand, we captured memorable moments before returning to school around 3 pm.

Wednesday, August 2, 2023 – Aboriginal Dreamtime Stories
On Wednesday, we dived into the captivating world of Aboriginal Dreamtime stories. These enchanting tales have been passed down through generations and hold deep cultural significance. We began by watching a video about the Rainbow Serpent and engaging in a thoughtful discussion about its symbolism and importance.

Later, we explored the story of Frog Tiddalik, a small mischievous and very thirsty frog who appears in one of Australia’s best-known Creation Stories. To deepen our understanding, we participated in a jigsaw activity where we creatively arranged the pieces to tell the story visually. Additionally, we explored the art of dot painting, a prominent Aboriginal art form. Everyone got to paint their own pictures, and then we composed written stories inspired by our paintings. It was a fantastic opportunity to express our creativity and imagination.

In the afternoon, we shared our stories with the class, each tale unfolding like a unique piece of art in itself.

Thursday, August 3, 2023 – Describing People
Thursday was all about describing people. We began with engaging activities on adjectives, learning a range of vocabulary to describe individuals. One of the fun exercises involved drawing a classmate and using adjectives to portray their unique characteristics. The presentations were amusing and insightful, as we creatively highlighted the distinct traits of our classmates.

Throughout the day, we participated in various interactive activities, such as Kahoot quizzes, team games, and discussions, which made learning about adjectives even more enjoyable. We also watched videos on the topic, enriching our understanding further. Working together in pairs and as a class strengthened our communication and collaboration skills.

In the afternoon, we went to Wintergarden and had a blast at Strike Bowling!

Friday, August 4, 2023 – The Wonders of Whales and Ocean Pollution Awareness
On Friday, we immersed ourselves in the world of whales. We started by watching a fascinating BTN (Behind the News) segment about these majestic creatures and engaged in thought-provoking discussions about whales and their conservation.

In our pursuit of knowledge, we completed activity worksheets and expanded our vocabulary using Quizlet to learn new terms related to whales. We tested our knowledge in teams by answering questions about whales, making it a fun and competitive learning experience.

During the second part of the day, we tackled the critical topic of ocean pollution. We completed activity worksheets centered around understanding the issue and its impact on marine life. As part of our commitment to raise awareness, we created informative posters about whales, incorporating scientific information and facts.

To end the week on a high note, we celebrated with a lively class party in the afternoon. The party was filled with team games, charades, musical chairs, Uno, and, of course, delicious pizza. It was a joyous way to conclude an enriching and eventful week!

Saturday, August 5, 2023 – Whale Watching on the Gold Coast
On Saturday, Brisbane students embarked on an exhilarating adventure to the Gold Coast for a day of awe-inspiring whale watching. Excitement filled the air as we set sail into the vast ocean, eager to catch a glimpse of these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. We scanned the horizon, hoping for the magical moment when the whales would grace us with their presence. Our patience was rewarded with breathtaking sightings of humpback whales and dolphins, as they playfully breached and surfaced, leaving us in awe of their grace and beauty. The experience of witnessing these gentle giants up close was truly unforgettable, and we left the Gold Coast with hearts full of wonder and appreciation for the wonders of the ocean.
