Monday, 31st July 2023 – Cooking and Recipes
The beginning of the week welcomed a group of new students with enthusiasm and warmth. We kicked off the day by introducing the exciting topic of “Cooking and Recipes.” To get everyone engaged, we played a fun warm-up game that involved exploring foods from around the world and discovering various cuisines. Through lively discussions, we even voted on which country has the best food, sparking friendly debates and cultural appreciation.

Building their culinary vocabulary and grammar skills, they creatively wrote and shared recipes with the class, fostering a sense of teamwork.

For the highlight of the day, we embarked on an interactive cooking activity. Working in teams, the students prepared the delicious Australian treat – Lamingtons. The joy and excitement filled the room as they got hands-on experience in the kitchen and eagerly anticipated the mouthwatering results!

Tuesday, 1st August 2023 – Daily Routines
A fresh day brought a whole new topic – “My Routine.” The students embraced the opportunity to learn how to discuss their daily activities, both in Australia and their home countries. Through engaging lessons, they explored hobbies, activities, the simple present tense, and adverbs of frequency.

In the afternoon, a lively gathering took place as students from different classes joined together for a thrilling game of tenpin bowling at Strike. Amidst laughter, they practiced speaking English and strengthened their friendships.

Wednesday, 2nd August 2023 – Indigenous Culture
On this day, the focus shifted to “Indigenous (Aboriginal) Culture.” Building on the previous day’s learning, students explored the past structures of English while also diving into intriguing facts about Aboriginals. They watched videos about dreamtime stories and marvelled at the beauty of Aboriginal art.

In the afternoon, their creative spirits soared as they engaged in their very own dot painting, drawing inspiration from the rich heritage of Aboriginal artistry.

Thursday, 3rd August 2023 – Home Town
Thursday brought a fascinating topic to the table – “Home Town.” The students eagerly shared their personal connections, talking about their cities and proudly displaying pictures. Prepositions of place and directions warmed up the class, setting the stage for an immersive experience.

To further enhance their understanding, captivating videos about their cities provided an enriching learning experience, expanding their city vocabulary and cultural knowledge. The afternoon turned into an exciting adventure at the Archie Brothers Arcade, where students bonded with their classmates while revelling in arcade games.

Friday, 4th August 2023
As the week approached the end, the excitement soared with the focus on the mesmerising “Gold Coast.” The students expressed their fondness for this coastal paradise, with unanimous agreement that the beach was their favourite place to be.

Their knowledge about Gold Coast flourished as they explored its most iconic attractions – the majestic buildings, pristine beaches, enchanting hinterland, and thrilling theme parks. With the highly-anticipated Dreamworld excursion on the horizon, they delved into amusement park vocabulary and expressions, engaging in the delightful task of creating their own amusement park ideas through captivating posters/PowerPoint presentations.

As the day unfolded, the entire program came together for an enjoyable movie session at the school. Amidst cinematic delight, they savoured an assortment of Australian snacks, cherishing the shared moments that made this week truly unforgettable.
