Monday – Public Holiday: Living Australian Culture
The week began with an Australian public holiday, giving students a genuine insight into local life. With no formal classes, learning happened naturally through shared experiences, excursions, and social activities.
Last week, students discussed the meaning of public holidays in Australia, compared traditions from their home countries, and practised conversational English in relaxed, real-world settings. It was the perfect introduction to cultural exchange and practical language use.
Tuesday – Animals, English & Hands-On Learning
Tuesday marked a return to campus with interactive English lessons focused on animals vocabulary and short student presentations. These sessions encouraged students to speak confidently and express ideas clearly in English.
The learning continued beyond the classroom with an engaging reptile show, where students connected new vocabulary to real-life experiences. Seeing Australia’s unique wildlife sparked curiosity, discussion, and spontaneous use of English.
Wednesday – Speaking Confidence & Social Connection
Wednesday focused on free time and hobbies, with speaking activities centred on likes and dislikes. Through group discussions and communicative games, students practised expressing opinions while learning about each other’s interests and cultures.
Afternoon tournaments and interactive games strengthened teamwork and communication skills, with English serving as the common language that connected students from diverse backgrounds.
Thursday – Aussie Slang & Cultural Taste
On Thursday, students explored Australian culture and slang, gaining valuable insight into everyday English used by locals. This helped make conversations feel more natural and boosted listening confidence.
An on-campus Aussie food tasting provided a highlight of the week. Students described flavours, shared preferences, and compared Australian food with dishes from home — turning food into a memorable language-learning and cultural exchange experience.
Friday – Real-World English in Action
Friday showcased English beyond the classroom. Activities such as putt putt golf and travel by bus and public ferry allowed students to practise practical English in real-life situations.
By asking questions, following directions, and navigating public transport together, students strengthened everyday communication skills. The week concluded with reflections and shared conversations, highlighting just how much English had been used naturally throughout the program.
More Than an English Program
The week at Browns Campus offered far more than language lessons. Through daily immersion, cultural exchange, and engaging experiences, students developed confidence, global awareness, and meaningful connections — all while improving their English in an authentic and enjoyable way.
