Monday, August 7, 2023 – My Family

Kicking off the fourth week with vibrant enthusiasm, our students delved into the captivating theme of “My Family.” In class, they engaged in lively discussions, sharing heartfelt stories about their family members while proudly showcasing photographs. The session culminated with a comprehensive lesson on possessives, accompanied by interactive worksheets. In the afternoon, a delightful cinematic experience awaited as students from various classes united to watch English movies. Not only did they dissect the film’s plot, but they also savoured popular Australian treats such as Tim Tam’s and Lamingtons.

Tuesday, August 8, 2023 –Beach Safety

With “Beach Safety” as the central theme, students absorbed essential beach-related vocabulary, gained insights into Australian beaches, and familiarised themselves with beach regulations encompassing flags, protocols, etiquette, and responsibilities. In addition to mastering modal verbs, which enabled them to articulate rules using “must,” “have to,” “can’t,” and “can,” the students acquired practical knowledge for seaside safety. The afternoon was dedicated to a visit to the iconic Q1 Skypoint, treating our students to a breathtaking panorama of the city. Subsequently, a trip to Surfers Paradise beach added to the day’s excitement.

Wednesday, August 9, 2023 – Discovering Remote Education: School of the Air

Wednesday held a special focus on the extraordinary “School of the Air” concept in Australia. Students delved into the remarkable history of this unique education system, exploring how education transcends geographical challenges, even in remote locations like the Australian outback. Engaging videos highlighted the evolution of the School of the Air. The afternoon buzzed with camaraderie as students engaged in Trivia and spirited games, competing for enticing prizes and strengthening their bonds.

Thursday, August 10, 2023 – Shopping

Thursday greeted our students with an exhilarating exploration of “Shopping” and fashion vocabulary. Brands, clothing types, and additional terminology took centre stage in this engaging session. Equipped with practical language skills, students mastered expressions pertinent to shopping scenarios, including inquiring about prices and sizes. The afternoon brought a real-world application of their newfound knowledge as students ventured to Australia Fair Shopping Centre in Southport, effectively practicing the linguistic tools acquired in the morning within an authentic setting.

Friday, August 11, 2023 – Celebrating the Spirit of Sport

The week finished on a spirited note with a focus on “Sport.” Students immersed themselves in discussions about various sports, playing fields, and sports equipment. Personal hobbies and physical activities were exchanged, providing insights into each other’s routines. Through engaging video content, they explored both mainstream sports and daring extreme sports, sparking conversations about their willingness to embrace adventurous pursuits. Post-lessons, Broadwater Parklands transformed into a playground of fun and relaxation, where students participated in beach volleyball, football, and socialising.

Saturday, August 12, 2023 – Movie World

Saturday marked a day of unparalleled excitement as our students embarked on a memorable journey to Movie World. This renowned theme park offered a day brimming with adrenaline-pumping rides, captivating shows, and immersive attractions inspired by the screen. From heart-racing roller coasters to dazzling entertainment spectacles, students revelled in a cinematic adventure like no other. Laughter echoed through the air as they encountered beloved characters and explored themed lands that brought their favourite movies to life. Amid the thrill and wonder, friendships deepened as students shared exhilarating experiences and formed lasting memories against the backdrop of this captivating amusement park.
