Week 4 of the Junior Holiday program has been a great mix of learning and fun.

In the classroom, students share and learn together and then apply our learning in great afternoon activities. This gives students the chance to have a good time while putting their English skills to use in real-life situations.

Monday, 2nd February 2026:
Monday was a busy start to the week, blending grammar with some hands-on fun. We kicked things off by reflecting on our weekends, with students practicing the nuances between the Past Simple and Past Continuous through personal writing and a grammar challenge.

The focus then shifted to the kitchen as we explored the language of cooking. After mastering new vocabulary and writing recipes for traditional dishes from their own countries, students spent the afternoon making Australian LAMINGTONS.

They also filmed the process and created their own video tutorials, complete with a list of ingredients and utensils needed plus the method to make them, as they dipped and decorated their way to a delicious famous Aussie treat.

Tuesday, 3rd February 2026:
Today’s topic was all about the animal kingdom, and we had a great time sharing our favourite animals and animal experiences. The grammar challenge was using comparatives and superlatives to describe the differences between species and breeds. Next was a fast-paced reading scavenger hunt where students had to race to find facts hidden in the cards. We then put our critical thinking skills to the test with a speaking activity about animal conservation.

The afternoon activity was a highlight for sure! Wildrangers came to visit our classroom with some Australian animals. Students had the opportunity to see some of the things we learned in class come to life! There were plenty of photo opportunities too as students could hold snakes, lizards, turtles and touch some famous Aussie birds & hear the Kookaburra laugh. Always a favourite experience at BROWNS.

Wednesday, 21st January 2026:
Today’s lesson was asking for and giving directions and talking about different places around the city. Students had the chance to share with their classmates and learn about different cities and ways to talk about getting around and directions, using landmarks and maps. It was a fun day in the classroom!

Later in the day, students learned a lot about Indigenous Art, Aboriginal symbolism and storytelling with colours of the Earth, land and sea. They created their own art pieces using traditional dot painting techniques. It was the perfect way to finish the day and a great souvenir to take home.

Thursday, 5th of Feb 2026:
Everyone loves movies, right? Today’s lesson was fun! Students learned film vocabulary and useful phrases to discuss different genres and their favourite movies. We used the present simple and present continuous tenses and did a grammar quiz.

In the afternoon, we headed out to play mini golf. We played 9 holes through crazy obstacles like ice cream cones, ocean waves, a life size Pac Man game, movie sets of E.T. & the Titanic, Snoopy the Dog’s house and a giant Connect 4 game. We can’t remember who won, but we know everyone had fun.

Friday, 6th Feb 2026:
Today, we explored Celebrations and Traditions. Students learned new vocabulary and discussed how they celebrate special milestones in their own countries. We also practiced our reading skills and everyone gave a short presentation about a special celebration in their countries.

In the afternoon, we had an Australian snack tasting challenge and then we enjoyed the sunshine with a class picnic in the park. It was a great time to relax and share snacks. We finished the week with some fun outdoor games like dodgeball and some trampoline jumping  A perfect day of learning and teamwork!

Saturday, 31st  January 2025:
To wrap up Week 4, students visited SeaWorld on Saturday for an exciting day out. They watched a dolphin show, petted and fed stingrays, and spent plenty of time enjoying different roller coasters and thrill rides around the park. The students were enthusiastic and eager to explore everything SeaWorld had to offer.

The excursion gave students the chance to have fun while interacting with animals and building shared memories with their peers. It was a high-energy day full of smiles, laughter, and excitement, and a great way to wrap up the week for the Junior Holiday Program.
