Today, we kicked off the week by discussing the impact of social media, focusing on its benefits and risks. After building vocabulary and completing a reading task, students got creative with a “Shark Tank” challenge. They pitched products and designed marketing strategies for platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
To finish the day, did a Magazine interview Project. First, they planned the questions they would ask & got peer feedback on their work. Then they conducted the interviews taking notes of the answers or recording them. After that, they used their notes and Canva to create professional magazine articles. It was a high-energy day full of creativity and great teamwork!

Tuesday’s topic was about daily routine. Students had the chance to learn and practise present simple with adverbs of frequency. We also learned how to use the first conditional, so it was a great day to learn different grammar points.
The afternoon activity was outdoors. The whole class went to Surfers Paradise, where they had the chance to have a lot of fun at the Arcade. They practised their English skills with their classmates in a fun activity.

What a busy day! The topic was: Food and Meals, so students spent some time learning about different food, and what people eat for brekky, lunch and dinner. We talked about school lunches and snacks too. Then we learned a bunch of new vocabulary for the kitchen; cooking verbs, cooking utensils, parts of a recipe, and measurements. We also learned some grammar; the infinitive, for writing the method in a recipe. Then we wrote a recipe of a favourite lunch or snack from our county.
Later in the day, used all this knowledge and worked in small groups to prepare 2 famous Australian snacks; Chocolate Spiders and Chocolate Ripple Cake. We finished the day by trying the delicious snacks and desserts that the students made and they produced their very own Instaworthy Food reaction / review videos.

Today the lesson was all about Sports. Students learned the English words for many different team and individual sports and all the verbs too. They learned about some famous Australian sports, the equipment used, and the places they are played. We also talked a little about the history and how to play them. Then student discussed sports popular in the ir country, the ones they like, have played and have watched live.
In the afternoon, we spent the afternoon playing Barefoot Bowls. Robert from the Australian Bowls Institute showed us all how to play. Shoes off and feet on the grass, we had fun in the sun and some friendly competition.

What a busy last day of school! We started with some Valentine’s vocabulary and a fun game of Charades. Students shared the traditions in their own cultures with the class.
Next, we had a flag guessing competition and learned about other cultural traditions from around the world. We also played a speaking board game and then finished off with some grammar: conditional sentences which we used to talk about travel. We also did a final written reflection about their time in the program.
The best part was the afternoon: a Pizza Party to say goodbye, followed by our in-class graduation ceremony. We are so proud of everyone! 🎓🍕✨
Week 5 marked the final chapter of the BROWNS Junior Holiday Program! It was a week full of bittersweet goodbyes, but also a wonderful celebration of everything the students achieved.
We are so proud of how much they’ve grown in confidence and the friendships they’ve built. While the program has come to an end, the memories and English skills they’ve gained will stay with them forever. Thank you to everyone for making this such a memorable adventure!
