
Monday – Technology – 16 Feb 2026
On Monday, students explored the topic of technology, focusing on language used to talk about devices, apps, and everyday digital activities. Lessons encouraged students to describe how they use technology, share opinions, and practise basic explanations using clear and simple English.
In the afternoon, students enjoyed a Card Game Remix activity. Students added their own rules to a card game for some whacky and zany fun. They also taught each other games from their country. This activity encouraged strategic thinking, turn-taking, and communication, while reinforcing classroom language in a fun and interactive way.
Tuesday – Aussie Etiquette – 17 Feb 2026
Tuesday’s lessons focused on Australian etiquette, helping students understand appropriate behaviour and polite language used in everyday situations. Students practised functional expressions such as greetings, requests, and responses, building confidence for real-life interactions in Australia.
In the afternoon, students went to Sunnybank to experience Australia’s thriving multiculturalism as there were a handful of activities welcoming in the Lunar New Year. They explored the area, observed cultural performances and decorations, and took part in various activities related to the celebrations. This outing gave students valuable opportunities to experience cultural diversity in Brisbane while using English to describe what they saw, ask questions, and share their experiences with classmates.
Wednesday – Social Media – 18 Feb 2026
On Wednesday, students focused on presenting information about their home countries. Lessons supported students in describing geography, culture, food, and traditions, while encouraging clear and confident speaking.
The afternoon English Podcast/Interview activity allowed students to record short podcast-style segments about their countries. This task helped students practise pronunciation, fluency, and organisation of ideas while speaking in a relaxed and supportive environment.
In the afternoon, students continued their exploration of social media and creative expression in the classroom before heading out for a unique excursion to Dopamine Land in Brisbane’s Uptown precinct. Dopamine Land is an immersive, interactive multisensory experience designed to combine media, technology, and play in colourful, engaging installations.
Thursday – Sport & Fitness – 19 Feb 2026
Thursday’s theme focused on sports and fitness, with lessons introducing action verbs and grammar structures such as play, go, and do. Students practised talking about different sports, exercise routines, and healthy habits through interactive activities and discussions.
In the afternoon, students played Pickleball, giving them the chance to stay active while practising listening skills, instructions, and teamwork. The activity supported natural communication and cooperation in a fun outdoor setting.
Friday – Celebrations – 20 Feb 2026
Friday’s lessons focused on celebrations, with students writing about family gatherings, special events, and traditions. This activity encouraged reflection, personal expression, and the use of descriptive language to share meaningful experiences.
In the afternoon, students enjoyed a Class Party to celebrate the end of the program. The event provided an opportunity for students to relax, socialise, and reflect on their learning journey while enjoying time together.
Saturday – River Cruise – 21 Feb 2026
On Saturday, students enjoyed a special end-of-program excursion beginning with a River Cruise, where they were able to relax and take in views of Brisbane from the water. After the cruise, students explored nearby markets, browsing stalls and observing local products while practising real-world English such as asking questions, reading signs, and discussing items of interest.
Later in the day, students visited Queen Street Mall, where they watched and took part in a lively dance battle competition. This spontaneous and energetic experience encouraged students to cheer, interact, and communicate confidently in English while enjoying the vibrant atmosphere of the city. It was a fun and memorable way to finish the program and celebrate the students’ time together.
Conclusion
Week 6 was a wonderful conclusion to the JHP program. Through creative activities, practical language use, and shared experiences, students demonstrated increased confidence, communication skills, and independence. We are very proud of everything they have achieved and wish them all the best as they continue their English learning journey.
