Learn English on the Gold Coast: Week 2 Junior Holiday Program

G’day again! Week 2 of our 2025 Junior Holiday Program was full of energy, creativity and exciting moments. Each day brought a new theme, helping students learn and practice English in fun and interactive ways. From classroom games and vocabulary challenges to unforgettable excursions, students had the chance to grow, explore and laugh together. Let’s take a look at what we did this week.

Monday, 21 July 2025
We kicked off the week with the topic “Life Experiences” and explored the use of the Present Perfect tense. Students shared things they have done in their lives and learned how to ask and answer fun experience questions. We played games and did creative group activities in class to practice the new grammar. In the afternoon, we held the BROWNS Tournament! Students completed small challenges and tasks in teams — it was a fun way to bond and use English while competing for sweet prizes.

Tuesday’s theme was “Entertainment”, and the classroom was full of music, movie quizzes, games and laughter. We played a trivia quiz and a fun Kahoot game to test our knowledge of songs, films, video games and series. In the afternoon, we headed to an arcade in Surfers Paradise and spent the whole afternoon playing games and having fun together. It was a great way to relax and practise English in a real-world environment.

Today, our topic was “Crafting and Design”. We started by learning new vocabulary related to arts and crafts, then put it into action with a hands-on activity. In the afternoon, students learned about the physics behind paper plane flight and then got creative making their own paper airplanes and tested them out in the afternoon. Some flew really far. It was a fun and creative day where everyone got to use their imagination and teamwork skills.

On Thursday, we explored the theme of “Shopping”. Students learned useful shopping phrases and practiced asking for prices, sizes and making polite requests. We played fun role-plays and games to ensure everyone was ready to go shopping in English. In the afternoon, we went to Surfers Paradise where students bought souvenirs and used their new vocabulary in real shops. A great real-life English experience.

The topic for Friday was “Free Time and Hobbies”. We talked about the things we enjoy doing in our free time using the Present Simple tense. Students shared their favourite hobbies and asked questions to their classmates. It was a relaxed and friendly way to get to know each other better. In the afternoon, we went to Broadwater Parklands where students played sports and outdoor games. The sun was shining and everyone had a great time being active.

We ended the week with an incredible trip to Dreamworld! Students from all over the school joined this exciting excursion. There were roller coasters, animals, and lots of smiles all around. It was a full day of adventure, and the perfect way to finish such a fun and busy week. Everyone went home with great memories and stories to tell.

Another amazing week has come to an end, and we’re so proud of everything our students have learned and experienced. From grammar practice and creative activities to unforgettable excursions, it has been a week full of growth and fun. Stay tuned for next week’s blog where we’ll share more of our Junior Holiday Program adventures here at BROWNS.
