Week 2: A Fun-Filled Week at Our English School on the Gold Coast
What an exciting week we’ve had in our Junior Holiday Program PSP+ class! Here’s a quick look at our learning and adventures this week:
Monday, 21st July – Games, Measuring & Yoga
We kicked off the week with getting to know you games and some hilarious Minute to Win It challenges. In Maths, we had fun using formal and informal measuring tools to measure things around the school. We finished with some relaxing yoga to stretch our bodies and calm our minds.
Tuesday, 22nd July – Language & Excursion Fun
We explored comparatives and superlatives (taller, smaller, faster!) through games and group work. In Science, we began growing plants and talking about how they change. Then we caught the tram for a fun excursion to play arcade games, practicing real-life English in a playful setting.
Wednesday, 23rd July – Discovering the Savannah
On Wednesday, we dove into geography, learning about the savannah—where it is, what animals live there, and what the land looks like. Students created beautiful drawings to show their understanding.
Thursday, 24th July – Animals, Tongue Twisters & Winter Sunshine
We had fun describing animals, then tried tricky tongue twisters that made everyone giggle. In the afternoon, we went out to buy souvenirs and play in the park. It was a beautiful, sunny winter day—perfect for learning and laughter outdoors.
Friday, 25th July – Savannah Dioramas
As part of our Science unit on biomes, we brought our learning to life by creating detailed dioramas of the African savannah. Our projects showcased the creativity and teamwork in our classes and featured native wildlife, grassy plains, and watering holes. We made our dioramas by using a variety of arts and crafts materials such as coloured paper/tissue, playdough, rocks, cardboard and more.
Saturday, 26th July – Dreamworld
Our trip to Dreamworld (Australia’s biggest theme park) was an unforgettable adventure filled with excitement and laughter. Students enjoyed thrilling rides, explored themed worlds, and even had close-up encounters with some amazing wildlife. There was plenty to enjoy for everyone, even if the adrenaine-pumping roller coasters were too much for you!
