Holiday Program

Monday, 24th July 2023
We kicked off Monday by welcoming new students, and focused on teaching them how to describe life experiences using the present perfect grammar. They engaged in various activities, including watching videos, pair interviews, board games, Kahoot games, and exercise worksheets. In the afternoon, students had a fun time learning to make an Aussie treat, Lamingtons.

Tuesday, 25th July 2023
Tuesday’s class began with a useful vocabulary lesson on describing cities. Each student took turns discussing their hometowns using the functional language they had learned for positive and negative attributes. After the break, we took a ferry ride to South Bank Parklands. Some students dipped their fingers in the swimming pool water, while others captured cool photos with the iconic Brisbane sign. It was a beautiful day, and we made the most of it while describing the beauty of Brisbane.

Wednesday, 26th July 2023
On Wednesday, we delved into early Australian history, using engaging games to express past actions and identify irregular patterns for English past tenses. In the afternoon, students explored their creative side with a painting session, recreating the Aboriginal dot painting technique on rocks.

Thursday, 27th July 2023
The morning lesson had a wildlife focus, where students learned about animal parts, sounds, and habitats in preparation for a mini presentation on an Australian animal. We reinforced their learning with Kahoot and Pictionary games. Later that day, we had a special visit from a Wild Rangers wildlife expert, who introduced us to various Australian animals, and some students even got the chance to hold a crocodile! It was an unforgettable experience for everyone.

Friday, 28th July 2023
Friday’s class started with a Kahoot game related to transport and directions. Afterward, students completed direction worksheets and map reading exercises. They enjoyed playing direction games in the classroom. In the afternoon, we headed to the park for a picnic together, where everyone tried Aussie snacks like fairy bread and Lamingtons, and we had a great time playing games.

Saturday, 29th July 2023
On this thrilling Saturday, the students of BROWNS’ Junior Holiday Program set off on an adventure to Sea World on the Gold Coast, brimming with excitement and anticipation. The day was dedicated to exploring the wonders of marine life and immersing themselves in an oceanic world of enchantment. At Sea World, they were captivated by dolphin shows, marine exhibits, and heart-pounding rides. The students also had the unique opportunity to learn about marine conservation efforts and the importance of protecting our oceanic friends. Laughter and camaraderie filled the air as they shared unforgettable experiences, forming lasting memories with their newfound friends. As the sun set on this magical day, the students returned to Brisbane, cherishing the beauty of the sea and carrying with them a deeper appreciation for the natural world.
